Indiana State University
The College of Business at Indiana State University has an insurance and risk management program that is ranked among the best in the nation. This program has an almost 100% job placement rate for graduates and has a robust internship program so students can get hands-on risk management experience with local and national companies.
University of Pennsylvania
Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania offered the first risk management program in the world, with the first students going through risk management classes in 1913, before Wharton even existed. This program combines classroom learning with research opportunities and hands-on learning so students get a comprehensive education that stays true to the vision of the original program founder, Dr. Solomon S. Huebner.
University of Georgia
While the risk management program offered by the University of Pennsylvania was the first of its kind, the University of Georgia has the oldest risk management program available to students. Terry School of Business at the University of Georgia had partnerships with a number of insurance companies to provide students with internships and other hands-on learning opportunities, and they host one of the largest career fairs specifically for risk management majors every year during their Risk and Insurance Careers Day.
St. John’s University
The program offered at the College of Insurance at St. John’s University is not the oldest program or the largest program, but it does have the unique distinction of being one of the few programs located in the heart of New York’s financial district. The college hosts the annual Insurance Leader of the Year Award Dinner, a leading industry event, and provides students with the opportunity to connect to some of the top companies in the insurance world.
